Wedding planning can be a stressful time – with so many big and small decisions to make and an overwhelming amount of options, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. There are so many online resources that couples can utilize to make the process a little easier, and our friends at WeddingWire have a plethora of tools to help organize and research your vendors. They also have this helpful wedding day timeline to give you an idea what tasks you should be focusing in on at what time. We’ve also included our own “Beauty” Wedding Day timeline to help you prep yourself to be the most gorgeous and glowing bride on your wedding day.

12 Months

You’re at the one-year mark right before the big day, you’ve used WeddingWire to find the perfect venue so what’s next to think about? One of the things is your hair and makeup. If you already have your gown or at least it’s on order, then that’s great because it’s time to start thinking about your wedding day look. Pinterest will now be your best friend!

Are you a boho chic bride? Maybe incorporate a floral crown and some braids into your hair style and keep your makeup simple. Are you more classic with a black-tie affair? Think elegant and timeless opting for a low chignon and red lip.

Start collecting pins to share with your stylists so when you do have your trial run, they can have a good starting point and also use them to guide you a bit.

Once you’ve  got the gown – this is a good time to start researching who you will hire for your hair and makeup needs.  Consider if you want both services for everyone in your party. Will you be paying for the services or will your bridesmaids be covering their own services? If so, check with the group to see what their budget is. You can also “gift” them one of the services if that helps.  Knowing who will be getting which services this far in advance is important because many on-site bridal beauty companies require a minimum number of services.  Most companies require this information even before you book a trial with them.

Now that you’re bridesmaids have their outfits – let the beauty countdown begin! Now is the time to really start caring for your hair and skin if you haven’t already been doing so. Your makeup will last longer and look better if you start a steady skincare routine of a daily cleansing, toning and moisturizing.  Twice a week exfoliate with a favorite product or mix two-parts brown sugar with two-parts olive oil.  Scrub for about two minutes, rinse with warm washcloth then tepid water. You’ll see immediate results!

As for your hair, keep your color fresh and ends tidy. If your hair is on the shorter side and you need length for the style you want, then just let it grow. Or, opt for some clip-in extensions.  Be realistic.  Don’t show your stylist a picture of a bride with long hair down to her waist if your hair is only shoulder length.

Continuing your beauty prep, schedule a professional facial for once a month.  Have your last one a full 30 days prior to your wedding day.  If you need any facial waxing done, you can do that about a week to 4 days prior. Also, this is the time to schedule your hair and makeup trial with your chosen beauty vendor – especially now that you’ve solidified your accessories.

3 Months

Having already had your trial run? Get on it girl! The best stylists and beauty companies book as far in advance as a year and most won’t hold your date until the trial run has happened, the deposit is made and a contract has been signed. Word to the wise—if a company or individual stylist doesn’t offer a signed and solid contract move on! You want be legally protected and be assured your team will show up on your wedding day.
