Trial Preparation

  • Bring photos of hair and/or makeup ideas. This gives the stylist a place to start in providing exactly what you want, especially with hair. You can also send these ahead via email.
  • Bring hair accessories (veil, combs, jeweled pins, etc.) that you may have. If you don’t, we have a few things we can use to improvise such as a veil, silk flowers, jeweled combs and other accessories.
  • Bring clip-in extensions if you want to use on the wedding day; they should be cut as we do not do this at the trial. There is a $20 charge for the use and placement of extensions.
  • Bring photos of your dress, bridesmaids’ dresses, jewelry, etc. It’s a good idea to wear white/ivory to get a true sense of your wedding day look and if possible, come dressed not in totally casual clothing. Perhaps wear a top that’s close to the neckline of your dress. This will help you see yourself more in bride mode and less how you look every day.
  • Come with clean, dry hair that has not been flat ironed, as it makes it difficult to curl and put into an up-do or down do. Feel free to put product in but nothing that weighs hair down. If you require a blow-out, come with damp hair if possible or we will simply re-wet. We do not wash hair at our home studio as it is not a salon-like setting but more of a consultation/styling studio.
  • Provide a list or please mention any product allergies you may have. Feel free to wear makeup if you wish, or come with a clean, moisturized face.
  • It is okay to bring a few people with you but no more than two (2-3) plus yourself as our studio is small and seating is limited. We do not encourage fiancés or young children to attend your consultation.
  • Please allow a minimum of two hours for hair and makeup trials and no less than 1 hour for makeup-only or hair-only trials. Trials for hair and makeup can go as long as 2 ½ hours, so please plan accordingly. If any trial goes beyond 2 1/2 hours, there may be a $25 per half hour fee.
  • If you are more than 20 minutes late for your appointment, we may need to reschedule as this causes us to run into another client’s trial and we like to allow enough time for personal attention for each bride.
  • Parking: BBP’s studio is located in an urban setting with on-street parking. There is also a metered lot with kiosks located on E. Passyunk between Morris and Tasker. The studio address is 1613 EAST Passyunk Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19148. There are currently meters on the Avenue that take both quarters at .25/15 mins) and uses the meterUpP App. There is also free, non-metered parking available. Please read signs as some parking is two hours only. Sunday meters are FREE! Valet parking is available at The Fountain (half block past our studio at Tasker) Tues-Sat, 5pm-12am; Sun, 11am-10pm.
  • Please do not bring food to the studio. Small snacks are fine if necessary, but please do not bring your lunch or dinner as the studio is small and not suited for eating meals.
  • If you want to book your date and stylists, please be prepared to leave a deposit and sign a contract. Please know exactly how many attendants will be getting services if possible. If wedding is 30 days or less from the trial, please be prepared to remit balance in full. We accept cash, check or credit cards (Visa/Mastercard/Amex/Discover).
  • The balance is due 30 days prior to the wedding in one lump sum from you, unless previously discussed. If you do not book your date at the time of your trial, please be prepared to pay the trial costs in full.
  • Gratuity is not included in the trial fee and is appreciated for recognition of excellent service. Tipping your individual stylists, as one would in a salon, is always appreciated. A 20% gratuity is customary for service providers. Cash only. No tips on credit. Please bring small bills if necessary as we do not have a cash register for change.
  • And if it’s possible, plan something fun to do after your trial since your hair and makeup will be professionally done and you will look amazing! Perhaps a brunch or dinner in the city 🙂
