Color Palette Tips – Neutral is the Way to Go!
Choosing a color palette for your wedding day is one of the first decisions you will make as a bride. While not necessary – it can help assist you in forming a cohesive aesthetic that will carry you and your guests throughout the day. We’re so glad to see that the “trends” for Summer/Fall 2017 are largely classic and timeless – including integrating gorgeous neutrals and metallics throughout your color palette.
Fashion choices are often one of the first things to be decided on – so once you’ve got your gorgeous frock nailed down, it’s usually time to think about your beau’s look (or maybe vice-versa!) The Black Tux is a super cool, easy to navigate website that can help you nail down a tuxedo rental that both you and your betrothed will love. We do love a gray suit on a super sharp groom-to-be here at BBP!
But enough about the guys – what about you? How can you integrate your classic color palette even into your hair and makeup? Well thankfully neutrals are typically the way to go when it comes to makeup. We often tell our clients that we want them to look back at their wedding photos and say “Wow I look so beautiful!” not “Wow I look like I got married in 2017!” A beautiful, soft shimmery eye that defines the eye shape while letting the natural eye color shine is a favorite look of ours. If you want a more “metallic” feel to the makeup, antique golds and bronze tones are very flattering on those with deeper or olive skin toned beauties, while a brighter less aged shade will do well with those with fair complexions. When it comes to silver, we typically suggest you leave that to your accessories, as it can sometimes look very harsh or un-natural in your makeup. However, a soft silver lid blended out with taupes and soft browns can be lovely.
Metallic hair extensions are very 2014 – but you can integrate some shimmer into your ‘do using hair combs or other accessories. Most modern brides don’t wear their veils past the photos and the ceremony, so it’s always nice to have something underneath to keep your look special throughout the night. It’s also an opportunity to integrate some elements from your color palette into your overall look. Rose-gold accessories are very popular right now – teetering between a lush gold and a soft pink. The classic silver hair piece with rhinestones is always a favorite – but you can try utilizing a hair chain in-lieu of a clip for something a bit more modern.
No matter what you choose it’s sure to look gorgeous – just keep these tips in mind to make it a little easier to decide!
